Do you think its moral for illegals & supporters protest they are not allowed use document fraud to keep?

Do you think its moral for illegals & supporters to protest they are not allowed use document fraud to keep jobs and stage protest over SS# no match letters ? Are supporters just wanting to corrupt America so we become more like Mexico, this seems to be their goal ?Supporters of the 200 undocumented workers who were fired by Pacific Steel Casting Company starting in December will march through the city of Berkeley Friday to protest for the rights of all workers. The “March for Dignity” will begin at Old City Hall — 2134 Martin Luther King Jr. Way — at 10 a.m. Friday and make its way to Pacific Steel’s facility in West Berkeley, according to the Facebook event page. “We worked in awful conditions, were denied proper breaks, lacked adequate eating facilities and paid into a pension we are now being denied access to,” reads event description. “However after years of benefiting from a lower paid undocumented worker base, the company submitted to a federal immigration audit which led to 200 of us being fired.” Last February, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security mandated that the company check the employment eligibility of its workers through an I-9 audit. The audit, which began in October, resulted in the firing and replacing of undocumented workers who could not produce social security numbers. The event calls for the people of Berkeley to support the march because it is a “sanctuary city for migrant people.” More than 300 people were attending the Facebook event invitation as of Tuesday afternoon. http://www.dailycal.org/2012/02/14/undocumented-workers-to-march-in-protest-of-pacific-steel-firings/

HOW ABOUT THESE OLD ONES ?

A guy walks into the local welfare office, A guy walks into the local welfare office, marches straight up to the counter and says, "Hi. You know, I just hate drawing welfare. Id really rather have a job." The social worker behind the counter says, "Your timing is excellent. We just got a job opening from a very wealthy old man who wants a chauffeur and bodyguard for his beautiful nymphomaniac daughter. Youll have to drive around in his Mercedes, but hell supply all of your clothes. Because of the long hours, meals will be provided. Youll be expected to escort her on her overseas holiday trips. You will have to satisfy her sexual urges. Youll be provided a two-bedroom apartment above the garage. The starting salary is $200,000 a year." The guy, wide-eyed, says, "Youre puttin me on!" The social worker says, "Yeah, well, you started it." Jim and Edna were both patients in a mental hospital Jim and Edna were both patients in a mental hospital. One day while they were walking past the hospital swimming pool, Jim suddenly jumped into the deep end. He sank to the bottom of the pool and stayed there. Edna promptly jumped in to save him. She swam to the bottom and pulled Jim out. When the Director of Nursing became aware of Ednas heroic act, she immediately ordered her to be discharged from the hospital, as she now considered her to be mentally stable. When she went to tell Edna the news she said, "Edna, I have good news and bad news. The good news is youre being discharged; since you were able to rationally respond to a crisis by jumping in and saving the life of another patient, I have concluded that your act displays sound mindedness. The bad news is that Jim, the patient you saved, hung himself in his bathroom with the belt of his robe right after you saved him. I am so sorry, but hes dead." Edna replied; "He didnt hang himself; I put him there to dry. How soon can I go home?" More Evidence That This World Is Full Of Complete Idiots 1. Police in Wichita, Kansas, arrested a 22-year-old man at an airport hotel after he tried to pass two (counterfeit) $16 bills. 2. A man in Johannesburg, South Africa, shot his 49-year-old friend in the face, seriously wounding him, while the two practiced shooting beer cans off each others head. 3. A company trying to continue its five-year perfect safety record showed its workers a film aimed at encouraging the use of safety goggles on the job. According to Industrial Machinery News, the films depiction of gory industrial accidents was so graphic that twenty-five workers suffered minor injuries in their rush to leave the screening room. Thirteen others fainted, and one man required seven stitches after he cut his head falling off a chair while watching the film. 4. The Chico, California, City Council enacted a ban on nuclear weapons, setting a $500 fine for anyone detonating one within city limits. 5. A bus carrying five passengers was hit by a car in St. Louis, but by the time police arrived on the scene, fourteen pedestrians had boarded the bus and had begun to complain of whiplash injuries and back pain. 6. He took the 250-page manuscript to be copied, only to have it reduced to 50,000 strips of paper in seconds when a worker confused the copier with the shredder. 7. A convict broke out of jail in Washington DC, then a few days later accompanied his girlfriend to her trial for robbery. At lunch, he went out for a sandwich. She needed to see him, and thus had him paged. Police officers recognized his name and arrested him as he returned to the courthouse in a car he had stolen over the lunch hour. 8. Police in Radnor, Pennsylvania, interrogated a suspect by placing a metal colander on his head and connecting it with wires to a photocopy machine. The message "Hes lying" was placed in the copier, and police pressed the copy button each time they thought the suspect wasnt telline the truth. Believing the "lie detector" was working, the suspect confessed. 9. I have some type of eating problem. Can somebody help me figure out what it is? SED?

Yes, I have made previous posts about this because Im so confused. 1 social worker told me I have an unintentional eating disorder, a different social worker told me she thinks Im anorexic, 2 doctors told me that if I dropped below 110 pounds theyd start thinking I have an eating disorder and I would need to get treatment for it (which is why I had to see 1 of the social workers and now the psychologist). A psychologist said that I dont meet the criteria for any eating disorders and doesnt seem to think that anything is wrong (Ive only seen her once so far though). My mom says Ill just grow out of it and eventually gain weight (shes been saying that since I was little) but my eating has been getting worse. I just lost all of my friends because they said I was denying an eating disorder and they couldnt be supportive in me hurting myself. Heres my symptoms: I am a really picky eater. Almost all of my food is carbs, but I do try to eat 1 fruit and 1 vegetable every day (Im a vegetarian though). I drink chocolate milk with almost every meal. My daily caloric intake is typically about 1,200 calories a day. The psychologist told me to start drinking Ensure Plus 3 times a day to gain weight. Heres what I eat in a typical day: fruit cup of mandarin oranges, 1 serving of rice with gravy, 3 cups of chocolate milk, 3 bottles of Ensure, 1 serving of potatoes with gravy, and 1 blueberry bagel with cream cheese. I eat the same food day after day so I am most likely malnourished. I just need to figure this out because Im about 30 pounds below my ideal weight (and thats after gaining 5ish pounds back!) and I lose more hair than normal, get dizzy almost every day, am always cold, and sometimes miss my period. When my mom points out somebody as skinny as me, I smile knowing that Im that skinny. I dont feel fat, dont have a fear of gaining weight, dont overexericse, dont purge, and dont binge. I just dont like eating. When Im home, I eat 1 or 2 very small meals and maybe 2 snacks and flavored water to drink. I remember going to a restaurant and smelling seafood and just sitting there crying, not being able to eat. I have no idea why. That happened when I was about 12 and the smell of seafood and meat is still horrible to me but I can tolerate it. I have always been underweight but Im in college now and I got down to about 104 pounds (no clothes on, Im 5 8"). The Ensure has helped me gain about 1.5 pounds in 10 days but I cant just live off Ensure the rest of my life. I dont want to eat different foods or eat any more than I do now. I just learned about SED (selective eating disorder) and think that maybe I have that. Has anybody heard of that or heard of any of these symptoms and know what it might be? I just realized how long this was... sorry. Thanks in advance for answers. I would rather starve than buy my own food so my parents pay for the food that I keep in my dorm room. To me, I feel too lazy to eat. Again, I would just rather not eat for a day or so, even though I get hungry. Ive been checked for thyroid problems, anemia, and other physical problems that could be associated with this. Everything came out normal. Sally: its true that I like attention usually but I would NOT make something like this up just to get attention. Believe it or not, this is a very real problem for me. You do not have to be so rude about it.
Answer: You are probably very selective with eating because you are a vegetation and do not know how to make different meals. The stuff you eat every day seems pretty plain. Try experimenting with making different food to find something that you really like. Look up meals on the web or go to your local bookstore and see if you can find a cookbook with meals that sound good to you. Other then that a good way to gain weight is to gain muscle. It weighs more then fat and then you could still look good. Two birds one stone.

does this job treatment seem fair to you? ?

Ok Ill try to make this as short as possible. Im a Residential Advisor at my university and I am on my 2nd year and I consider myself pretty experienced at the job. I am on the same staff with the same boss too and up until now I have liked the job and really had no problems or complaints this whole time. Basically our university has a 3 day holiday weekend coming up on October 10th and I was planning on leaving to visit a friend I havent seen in years Wednesday (the 8th) evening before that friday October 10th since I only have one class that thursday that I can miss.I spent a week clearing everything academic wise and I was pretty sure I was set to go. Then I remembered that our weekly 20 minute staff meetings are at 10pm Wednesday nights (late) but theyve always been that way. I thought "no big deal" that I could probably get excused since it is to catch a flight at 6pm since my classes get out at 1pm. After notifying my boss she said that she is 99% sure I CANT be excused because it is not academic or emergency related but she would ask her higher boss. (Reunions, or any social events even flight related is not excused!) A few of my co-workers last year had the same trouble I am now facing and quit. Anyway back to the point, this time I will have to pay $200 more to re-schedule my flight and loose 15 hours off of my weekend trip for a stupid 20 minute meeting where we do games, updates, and bonding crap and because of their 2 day delay in notifying me about their rejection of my request when I asked for approval to miss just one meeting out of the whole 1.5 years Ive been on the job with good performance. The updates are the only important part of the meeting and she said although she understands it being reasonable that I could be informed over the topics ahead of time and be excused, doing so would create the impression that meetings are not mandatory to the other co-workers. I understand that and offered to do any extra work or compensation with out pay to make up for it. But I was still refused. Isnt that a valid logical proposal that would benifit both parties and eliminate the reason of jeapordizing the perceived mandatory status of weekly meetings among the staff? I thought so. I only get paid $250 a month but I do get a housing scholarship (free room as part of the job which is why it looked attractive along with the leadership experience). However calculating my pay for both semesters to be about $4775 to $5275 total including the housing scholarship in that (doesnt include board (food)). Considering if I worked a normal $7.00/hour minimum student job as a cook 25 to 30 hours a week during that same period, Id make $7000-$9000 over that same period total. I loved the job up until these troubles, if you were in this situation would you consider quitting because I sure am right now. :-( Why I am posting this is on here is because I want to know from you guys if: I should consider quitting? If this seems logical to you? If this job is unreasonably un-flexible for the work we put in (24/7 we live the job and do programs, put up hall boards, rosters, inspections, night duty, on top of our school work.)? If I am wrong? What should I do? Should I write a kind letter of my concern of the work quality and treatment? I had another issue with boss above my boss a month ago regarding a much bigger issue which really makes this relatively minor issue just infuriating. Im not normally a complainer but I think this is legit and Im just POed about all of this because the job was going well until now. I hate when bosses suck! Please read of my additional conflict before this one before you call me a complainer or spoiled college student! I had trouble with this higher boss a month and a half ago because our job requires us to come back 3 weeks before classes for 12 hour days of training for 1.5 weeks! This was my second year and I asked if I could be 3 days late because I needed to complete my summer training for 2 IT computer certifications I was working in hopes for my future job. He (the higher boss) said absolutley not even because I was missing valuable team bonding experience and admitted that the materal was the same as the previous year but I could not be excused what so ever! So I told him I understood, cut my training short and put my IT exams on delay and came down to attend the training right before the fall semester. I also heard from him that any internships from residential advisors could cause a forced resignation because they are not able to come back early in the summer! the summer training was all ice breakers and the same lectures geared to newbies on the job but even 3rd years are required to attend! I always gave a weird look at the logic behind that but never really worried about it until now. Im just trying to decide if the troubles out weigh the benifits with this job? pros: *great on resume *leadership experience *planning/organizing/team experience cons: *unable to have a second job or summer internships/ jobs that go past August 5th. *have to cut summer 3 weeks short *no flexibility at all for illogical reasons related to the job (I dont think were marines). *deal with drunk residents and enforce policies weekly (woken up at 3AM sometimes) *University assigned us with temporary roommates (up to 2 months) because of overfill (so much for our housing scholarship) **These 2 current problems of mine So far it looks like Ill be quiting, am I just over reacting?
Answer: You know, there are ways around this. You call them right before you leave and say, my mom just called and she is sick. I have to go. And then you leave and miss your meeting. You know you are going on your trip and they know you are going on your trip, but so what. They can't prove it. They would be foolish to try and do anything about it. Your definition of an emergency can be anything you want it to be. Your employer would be risking a whole lot to fire you mid semester because they think you are missing a 10 minute meeting to go on vacation. They would have to prove that you lied and thqat you did not have an emergency. The sick mom thing is only a general idea. You can really say anything you want. Just remember that things like death and seeking medical treatment CAN be proved.

Did the 401k mark the end of ‘Golden Years’ for most Americans?

Is the transfer of responsibility (risk) from our ‘benevolent’ corporate masters to individuals, known as the ‘401k’, serving us well? Before the 1950s it was something only the wealthy could afford to do. Everyone else needed an income, and most folks struggled to get by in the industrial economy as their faculties deteriorated. Then came ‘Retirement’ for the masses. The social reformist dream became reality with the 1935 Social Security Act, the spread of the corporate defined benefit pension plan and Medicare in 1965. For most workers the last stage of life became a time of leisure, recreation and enjoyment. Is that now disappearing? The Age of Retirement was one of Americas most successful social reforms ever. But that era seems to be over. A new vision of old age is emerging from the trauma of the credit crunch and the Great Recession: Forget retirement. Keep working. The key question is no longer "How early can I retire?" For many it has become "How can I retire?" Of course, like all tectonic social and economic shifts, the trend isnt new. It has been building for the past three decades with the move away from traditional pensions, with their involuntary contributions and steady payout, in trade for 401k-type plans, with their voluntary contributions and uncertain returns. For workers nearing their retirement years, the median balance on 401ks and IRAs combined - a mere $78,000 in 2007. And the stock market reached its all-time peak that year! But the Great Recession has devastated portfolios since then, a stark reminder to millions of near-retirees that they havent saved enough to fund a good retirement. For many, Social Security has now become the prime, rather than supplemental, source of retirement income. Indeed, taking into account the declines in financial assets and housing, the National Retirement Risk Index as of mid-2009 signals that 51% of households are at risk at age 65 of not having enough retirement income to maintain their pre-retirement standard of living. Thats up from 44% in 2007 and 43% in 2004, according to the indexs creator, the Center for Retirement Research at Boston College. Yet companies are far from eager to fill their ranks with an aging workforce. Combine that with a contention for resources (jobs) from the younger, more educated, more ‘energetic’ members of society and a stage is set for some ‘interesting’ conflicts/experiments in our social evolution. This will also introduce some ‘dramatic skewing’ in market demographics, especially for some industries. The same energy and marketing savvy that created mass tourism and leisure will need to be expanded on building satisfying careers and job opportunities for a highly experienced but graying and less robust work force. For workers burning the midnight oil in a tough economy - theyre bone tired from working. Health problems are wearing them down. And, as the astute social commentator H.L. Mencken noted back in 1922, occupation matters: If he got no reward whatever, the artist would go on working just the same; his actual reward, in fact, is often so little that he almost starves. But suppose a garment worker got nothing for his labor: Would he go on working just the same? Can one imagine his submitting voluntarily to hardship and sore want that he might express his soul in 200 more pairs of ladies pants? The transition to the new world of the older worker brought about by the 401k in lieu of the corporate retirement plans our parents enjoyed, will be difficult. But Americans can afford to grow old. They will grow old gracefully - and on the job. So, how’s that 401k working for ya? As good as Pop’s corporate funded retirement – or not? Interested in opinions. In any event, it sure is cheaper for our rich benefactors. That much would appear to be clear. The greatest game ever – and it sold/sells itself? Not hard to sell choice, and profitable if you set it up right? The 401k replaced the corporate pension plan, not Social Security.
Answer: Wow, finally a well thought out argument against one of the pillars of our economy. I will start by mentioning a few companies, Bethlehem Steel, United Airlines, Pan Am, and Lucent. What do these companies have in common? They are either not in existence, filed bankruptcy or are on bankruptcy watch because of Defined Benefit Plans. Even the government got rid of the Defined Benefit plan they had for their employees because of the cost, they have gone to a 401K like plan called the TSP. The problem with the 401k is that they don't allow for large enough contributions and people do not fund them enough. Furthermore, most people do not take enough risk in their plans leading to returns that don't outpace inflation. The problem with our father's Defined Benefit Plan is that it destroys the companies that offer it. This will ultimately wreck the economy. The 401k has not marked the end of ‘Golden Years’ for most Americans. I think it is one of the greatest innovations of the last century. Since when is taking responsibility for your own retirement a bad thing. The days of being taking care of are over. Used properly the 401K is better than any Defined Benefit Plan and it is cheaper.

200 Yrs and no plan for the obsolete workers created by the machine .....?

The question was asked 200 years ago by a population that saw it coming at its infancy The machines they feared were crude by our standards They replaced men in ratio numbers we would be over joyed at ---- but they replaced men The machine over the time period of 2 world wars has grown at a fantastic rate and infiltrated society to such an extent as to almost demand the post techolglogical world we now take for granted Where it took 20 men to feed 100 it now takes 20 men to feed 20 thousand Cloths that used to take hours per item to make by hand are now churned out by the millions in an hour Horse delievery of goods required men to shovel sh--- and feed water and so on the means of delivery Bank tellers are getting thinner as a herd now because of ABMs and the idea of hiring a kid to carry your groceries out to your car is an old mans pipe dream of yesterday filled with weepy nostalgia and no more The forgotten social contract was the machine would produce such plenty that the people made obsolete by its existence would never be in want again by the surplus of its goods That plan and promise died shortly after it was made So --- 200 years Has the Conservative Party of Canada -- or the liberal or the NDP come up with a plan ? The Democrats the Republicans the British national party or anyone else ? Or is it that "they" do have a plan but dont want you knowing about it and worrying your pretty little head over that plan ? 200 Yrs and no plan for the obsolete workers created by the machine .....? Isnt 200 years enough time to come up with something ? If there is a plan shouldnt you the affected by it be in the loop as to what it is? isurvived I live in a primary economy --- and have worked mostly at what could be termed the base of the food production market from grist mills on down the line The fact is the machine itself has replaced thousands that would be required to keep up our current levels of production Most have worked very hard to escape the work I enjoy in a primary economy at the base of the food chain ---- it is dirty bloody and base straight from natures poop shoot Not the point --- My existence there in this machine driven age removes the need for 10 thousand or more --- What is your plan for those people ? None and your a mouth piece spouting off nothing to make a noise like any old empty ship? Then move along ********** Good god stop trying to fix an individual problem The obsolete worker is in the millions now and it is getting bigger with each new advancement Stop this local perspective of single minded blindness and poke your head up and look around What do you plan to do with the millions Send them all into a trade that doesnt need them or want them ? Pfo is right there are some jobs a machine can not do -- YET anyway and yes YOU the person can sell yourself there BUT the millions going there is silly They simply are not needed Obsolete --- and full -- What is the plan because we do not need a flood of people pulling the gum off the theater seats and there are more people than seats to be cleaned even if that industry was in temporary need of men Stop trying to solve one mans problem ( I dont have one ... yet anyway) and start looking at this as it is --- millions obsolete worldwide What is the plan ?
Answer: People have been getting replaced by machines for quite some time now. When was the last time you saw a bowling alley with human pin setters, or people resurfacing the ice at the rink between periods in a hockey game? There are more jobs than I can think of that used to be done by people, and are now being done by machines. For the moment, management level jobs seem to be safe, but for how long?

Student loan blues of a Social Worker?

I have student loans in the 100,000 range consolidated with the feds. I have had them in forbearance with interest continuing to go up. I have not been able to afford the payments (Im a Social Worker and my wifes in school). I look around and no one else seems to be worried about them, they put them in forbearance and forget about them- many in my profession have more than me. My plan is to pay off the loans of my wifes and my own in big chunks using her income. Ive ehard of the 10 year forgiveness program but that truned out to have high payments that no one could afford. Suggestions? Sounds like I will just have to use my wifes income for about 6 years to pay them off completely or at least lower them to the point of affordable monthly payments. 30,000 take home for her per year should pay off both our loans in 6 years. Paying monthly payments now would not be affordable outside of a mortgage, car, and everything else. Im not an MD living in Bevely Hills and driving a Benz. I live in a high crime area and drive regular cars and take no vacations. Is it just me or does the middle class run the country while the upper class sit back and watch. The lower class live in the same neighborhoods for $200 on section 8 and laugh because our taxes pay for their SSI, Section-8, healthcare, meds, etc? Seems to me that if they want to go after the educated middle class then they had better find another group of people to runt he country. The financial aid staff with the feds have been understanding and simply state that if you cant pay then forbearance, but then the amount just grows. Having that hanging over your head sucks! Oh, well, at least many are in the same boat. Thanks for the vent. back to work tomorrow.
Answer: I am thinking that you more than likely have a job that offers a vacation. You need to take one, it doesn't have to be expensive. Just a road trip to the state park and enjoy the great outdoors, get away from the bustle. I am sensing huge burnout at the moment because of obvious and stated financial stress. It seems like throughout the process of garnering student loans and and your wife going back to school (good for her) has placed a larger weight on your shoulders than you anticipated, and before you start letting it crush you, look into different programs with the federal government and see if they offer interest rate relief for social workers, which is a good place to start. Good luck, and take a nice trip to and hike around a state park or conservation area. Fresh air and a clear mind never killed anyone...unless you were skydiving without a parachute, and then there's a problem.

Eating Disorder question?

Everyone in my school thinks I am anorexic, probably because I dont eat lunch, I am always wearing a sweater, and I am really pale but I dont know how they can think that I am fat! My social worker has that I am anorexic or very close to it. I finally told my close friend about my eating problem(partly because she kept asking)but she says that I need to get more help than I am getting. I see a psychiatrist and a social worker I also take depression medication. I dont want to recover at all. Also the school principle also asked my mom if I was anorexic but she lied and said no. But my friend told me that she has had friends with anorexia and one died from it. I dont know what to tell her, I am not very happy with her though, because I dont want any more help. She also wants me to tell my dad about this, my dad is the one when I was younger that told me I look fat, chubby etc. and told me to work out and lose weight. He would be very mad(I think) if he found out. But how do I stop my friend from being so worried like after she texted "Hi" she texted "Did you eat today" I said yes(which I did) then she said "You better not lie to me" What should i do? I am on vacation with my whole family so I have to eat but when I get back home i will go back to eating 200 calories a day.My friend asked if I am usually dizzy, cold , tired, losing hair. I decided to be honest and answers yes to all of those. She wants me to start eating but I told her she does not understand. Also I have a history of eating disorders in my family a aunt that is bulimic and a cousin that is anorexic so my mom is familiar with this. But what should I tell my friend to make her less worried about me? I have also mentioned to her a couple time that I think I look fat and need to lose weight and diet. I am 57 and 108-110 pounds.
Answer: I wish I could use quotes here, but ill give it a try. (you said) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Everyone in my school thinks I am anorexic, probably because I don't eat lunch, I am always wearing a sweater, and I am really pale but I don't know how they can think that I am fat! My social worker has that I am anorexic or very close to it. I finally told my close friend about my eating problem(partly because she kept asking)but she says that I need to get more help than I am getting. I see a psychiatrist and a social worker I also take depression medication. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You sound confused and struggling to come to terms with your own thoughts and the situation, if you are under weight but are still called fat then that would be a form of bullying and you would need to get help to stop that before it lowers your self-esteem any further, you could start by telling your social worker and go from there. You see a psychiatrist and a social worker but you also need to see a counsellor to help cope with the confusion about how you feel and why you feel that way. ask to see one! (you said) I don't want to recover at all. But my friend told me that she has had friends with anorexia and one died from it. I don't know what to tell her, I am not very happy with her though, because I don't want any more help. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Recovery can seem scary but with the right help and support you can feel better and feel that you want to live a full and active life. I don't know you or your family situation so making suggestions would be a bit hit and miss but from what you have said I think your mother is also struggling to come to terms with what is going on as well. you may think she should be able to cope or understand but from what you are saying she is not I also think that your dad needs to know what's going on, why has she not told him? Has any one told you about what happens when you start to reduce food to a dangerous level? One point that often gets left out is that people who reduce their food intake can become very depressed, when you stop the body from getting the vitamins and nutrients it needs you are also reducing your ability to cope psychologically, the brain just like your hair needs food to function effectively. it can make any depression feel much worse. It's good that you have a good friend that cares and is trying to understand and people who love you, if they love you maybe you can learn to love your self for who you are. I think you really do need to find some space for your self in therapy to help you work through your thoughts and needs. Coming on here is a first step in trying to cope and understand what's going on. I don't think it has been easy for you to do, but the next step is up to you and even though it may feel very hard to do it is well worth taking. Try this web site, it may help you take the next step by allowing you some better options to talk online in a place that will help you express how you feel and find help and support. http://www.psychforums.com/anorexia-nervosa/ http://www.therapyworld.net/eating_disorders.html

Should I send this letter to my social worker? Just read the first part if you dont have time?

I had a conversation with my dad today, and as I seem to be out of options, I have decided that I do not want you to talk to either my father or Susan about my situation, my life, or anything pertaining to my existence, my abilities or my mental assessment. I have every intention of making something of myself and returning to University in one or two years to take a course load and my father believes Im too stupid to accomplish anything that I want to. My dad is not the perfect, selfless parent that he pretends to be. He tells me Im a piece of shit everyday because Im ugly and fat. And he also tells me about 200 times a day that Im stupid. I cannot tolerate or bear the idea that I will have to depend on such unjust and arrogant people for my survival in the next 10 to 20 years. Even though my father tells me Im stupid and mentally retarded, I refuse to believe him. I continue to hope and believe that I can go to University and get a bachelors and the masters degree in Divinity and become a pastor. I know this is a very easy thing for me, because I have already devoted 16 years of my life to studying the scriptures and I will not allow or give my father or Susan the opportunity to crush or destroy my dreams. It is my belief that I can get away from my father through education that keeps me alive and prevents me from killing myself and it is this belief that prevents me from destroying myself through reckless living or drug use. The main reason my father thinks Im mentally retarded is because I dont care what people think of me. I reached a point in early adulthood where I became basically immune to social rejection. I no longer feared the judgments or condemnations of others, and I no longer needed companionship to be emotionally well because I believed that no matter how isolated I was, I always had God to comfort me and pour his love into my heart and into my life. Basically everybody in my family thinks Im mentally retarded because I dont care what people think of me and I dont believe that I need people in my life. Another reason my father thinks Im mentally retarded is because he despises me and hates me for not being the person he wanted me to be. He raised me to be skinny, prim, proper, professional, beauty, intelligent and charming and he hates me for not redeeming his reputation by becoming the person that would give him the status he wants, so he looks for reasons to slander me by attributing qualities to me that dont exist. 99% percent of his conversations he has with me deal with how I can be more socially acceptable to others so that hes not embarrassed to be seen with me in public, 1% deal with how I can improve in my academic or professional life. My dad has gone 10 years without smiling when he looks at me or showing me in any way, shape or form that he is happy Im alive. Yet in spite of this, he keeps telling everybody my social problems are caused by my brain tumor and not the way he abused me mentally and emotionally. I used to be attracted to guys who treated me like I was a piece of horse manure because thats the way my father treated me when I was growing up. Mainly he will lie to make himself look better. One time, I walked downstairs in my night gown to get a glass of water, and my father accused me of trying to fornicate and have sexual relations with the neighbors. (I have never slept with anyone before) This is how my dad slanders me: I am "selfish" when I am true to myself because I refuse to modify my thoughts or opinions out of fear of judgment and thus act in a deceitful, hypocritical, fake, pretentious and double minded way I am "rebellious" when I disagree with others I am "arrogant" when I refuse to agree with my fathers opinions that unless I am liked by others, my life has no value, significance or purpose I am "stupid" if I chose not to socialize with people or make myself appealing to individuals I have no desire to be around I am "full of anger and rage" if I get angry at him for telling me that Im pathetic, worthless, retarded, stupid, or a whore
Answer: Social workers seldom find long letters to be beneficial in their attempts to help the client.

Are postal workers allowed to NOT deliver mail to a person just because their name is not listed on a mailbox?

My son recently relocated to a new town. He accidentally left behind some important papers to include his social security card, passport, birth certificate, etc. I bundled this all up and packed them into one Priority Mail envelope. I addressed them to him at his new address which is at an apartment which he shares with two roommates (one of which is the primary leaseholder who has been a long-time resident). I quadruple checked the address and sent these off feeling confident he would have them within a couple of days since he moved less than 200 miles away. I also got tracking for the package. This was on a Monday. As of Friday, he still had not received the package. I checked the tracking only to discover that USPS had tagged this as "Undeliverable as Addressed. It is being returned if appropriate information is available." Now, obviously, we are very upset. Firstly, because he needs the SS card (or birth certificate) for his new employer. Secondly, his entire identity is in this package. I called and spoke to the delivery supervisor to "confirm" the address. He told me that Id have to call back on Saturday morning to speak with the actual delivery person. He also told me that "it aint here no more". I called on Saturday morning. The delivery supervisor that morning (a different person) spoke to me and was able to speak to the actual delivery person (I could hear him in the background). They asked my sons name. I was then informed that there was no problem with the address but that the package was not delivered because my sons name was not in the mailbox and therefore the delivery person could not ascertain that my son lived there. Furthermore, they would not deliver any mail to my son in the future until such time that my sons name was added to the mailbox. I was shocked, to say the least. Ive lived a lot of places in my years. Is it or is it not the post offices responsibility to deliver mail as addressed? Since when did the post office decide it was their responsibility to determine exactly where in the U.S. everybody lives and refuse to deliver mail until they can ascertain such? And why would they want that responsibility? And who gave them that authority? After I informed my son of this, he was telling his roommates about this, and it turned out that the other roommate (that moved in a few months ago) has yet to receive a single piece of mail. His mother had also mailed something to him that had been returned. Now they know why. As a last note, it is now Monday evening (one week later). I was told that since this package was mailed out Priority Mail that it would be returned to me via Priority Mail - yet I still do not have this in my hands. I am very, very concerned as to its whereabouts. Ideas anyone? THANKS! I was told the one roommate actually filled out a forwarding address form with the post office before he moved in so that the new post office would be informed...as well as the old post office. Apparently did him no good. It distressed me to read the multitude of similar stories here on Yahoo Answers. I maintain that it is the publics responsibility to address their packages properly and the post offices responsibility to deliver them as addressed. Okay. Im not trying to be a smarty pants. I see everyone thinks the postal worker was correct. But is that opinion or do you know that to be USPS policy? This is what Im trying to find out. And to answer...yes, I would expect the USPS worker to deliver the package to the address I put on the package, even if I addressed it incorrectly. That is MY liability, my responsibility. Oh, but THANKS for the ehow link about the "name" requirement. Im going to try to find an official USPS link for that. Hmm...may have to apologize for all my grumblings against the postman. Now, if I could just get the package back! To the gentlemen who told me the postmaster he knew said it wasnt the job of the post office to deliver the mail --- well, then just what is the post offices job? And, Im being serious here...I want to know :)
Answer: Postal carrier was correct in not delivering the letter. Suppose you had made a slight typo in the street number, would you want the package dropped off then to another box without your sons name on it? Of course you wouldn't.... Next time address the package to your son Care Of: [Name of leaseholder] John Doe Care of: Tom Smith 1234 Main St Anytown, ST 00000 That way the postal carrier will deliver to leaseholders box.

Should The State Workers Go To Jail or Are They Heros?

Utah officials have identified at least two state employees who are believed to be involved in creating a public listing of some 1,300 purported illegal immigrants. Two employees of Utah’s Department of Workforce Services (DWS) have been placed on administrative leave pending completion of the full investigation. The workers could face fines, termination and/or criminal charges. The list, which went out to state and federal enforcement officials as well as to local media outlets and state political leaders, came with a note urging that all the people included on it be deported even though follow-up press reports have indicated that some of the names belong to UNITED STATES CITIZENS. Local and national anti-illegal-immigration groups tell Yahoo! News they are not responsible for the move. But the groups dont uniformly condemn publishing the anonymous accusations — which in turn bespeaks a revealing split in just how far different groups are willing to go in their push for more aggressive enforcement against illegal immigrants. Ron Mortensen, co-founder of the Utah Coalition on Illegal Immigration, says he objects to the list because there is "no justification" for releasing someones private information. The list contained some Social Security numbers, addresses, dates of birth, and phone numbers of people — including 200 Children — it accused of being in the country illegally. A letter from the anonymous group Concerned Citizens for the United States attached to the list also pointed out that six women on the list were pregnant and should be deported immediately. Following the document’s release, Governor Gary R. Herbert directed all state agencies to conduct an internal review. The DWS quickly drew attention in light of its database, containing data for Medicaid, food stamp programs and unemployment benefits. That type of information was discovered on the list. “When someone does business with the state of Utah, they deserve to know that their private information will be kept private,” Herbert said Friday. Bob Dane, a spokesman for Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), backed away from the vigilante tactic. He told Yahoo! News that his organization encourages people to report illegal immigrants to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) tip line. "If citizens want to help fight illegal immigration, use the tip line. And pressure politicians to enforce the laws," HOW DID THEY KNOW WHO WAS illEGAL AND WHO WASNT?
Answer: Under state law, there are penalties and consequences for giving out private information that is kept under wraps for privacy reasons. Going to JAIL, facing a $250,000 fine, and wrecking your job chances once you get out isn't worth this kind of headache. Why would you want to give medals to people whom break the law?

Child Molestation.Child Abuse.Child Neglect. Please help! Legal advise?

What legal ramifications does a person person "B") face for making false charges that person "A" molested, and abused his/her 3/yr/old (three year old) child. Person "A" was taken out of his/her home, the spouse was interrogated by DHS on a weekly basis, sometimes twice a week. This took place for many months(around 4+ months). Person "B" made charges publicly to his/her relatives including the parents of subject "A", to doctors, social workers, and a countless amount of other people. Subject "A" had to have supervised visitations with his/her children, after which he/she was not able to stay at his/her own home until DHS squashed the charges. Subject "B" informed the police department about these charges as well. The embarrassment and harassment from these charges has been the worst nightmare anyone can think of. So my question is this. In your best guess, if subject "A" took subject "B" to court for libel and slander what would the best case scenario be in terms of money and possible jail time. Subject "B" is directly connected to a corporation that is worth 3+ million dollars. To what extent is the law capable of making a case against an offender such as subject "B"??? Thanks you for your time and attention. I do have legal council but I dont want to bring any of this up until I have done some of my own due diligence. Subject "B" has slandered the name of subject "A" and subject "A" has an investigator that has retrieved proof that subject "B" is responsible for some horrific documents published on the internet. 31 minutes ago - 1 week left to answer. Additional Details I FORGOT TO MAKE THIS CLEAR. SUBJECT "B" HAS RETRACTED THE CHARGES AND NOW SAIS THAT HE/SHE ONLY BELIEVED THAT SUBJECT "A" WAS CAPABLE OF THESE ACTIONS(MOLESTATION ETC) IN OTHER WORDS, SUBJECT "B" HAD NO EVIDENCE TO SUPPORT THESE CHARGES FROM THE START AND NOW WANTS TO SAVE FACE WITH FAMILY AND HAS RETRACTED THE CHARGES IN OUBLIC TO MORE THAN ONE PERSON. 25 minutes ago YES THERE WAS A POLICE REPORT AND YES, I HAVE BEEN GOING TO A PSYCHIATRIST AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK FOR LAST 2 YEARS/ EVER SINCE THESE CHARGES WERE FILED. I HAVE BEEN DIAGNOSED AS HAVING AN ANXIETY PROBLEM AND IT IS DIRECTLY CONNECTED TO THIS INCIDENT. THE COST FOR THE PSYCHIATRIST HAS BEEN OUT-OF-POCKET AND ADDS UP TO AT LEAST $3000. 22 minutes ago MY MATH WAS OFF. THE COST FOR THE PSYCHIATRIST HAS BEEN SOMEWHERE AROUND $15,000. IT ID $200 PER SESSION AND AVERAGE 2-4 SESSIONS PER WEEK. 3 minutes ago 2-4 SESSIONS PER MONTH SORRY. NOT 2-4 PER WEEK.
Answer: It sounds like you have a pretty good case for defamation of character. I'm not a lawyer, but I think you might be able to at least be reimbursed for part of your therapy. Put it this way-My best friend works at a school (was a volunteer) and a teacher got investigated and fired for abuse of a child (really did it) and sued my friend (who never breathed a word of it to anyone) for defamation of character. And the case was settled out of court and she still got money (from the school). So if you go for it, my opinion is that you will either be able to settle out of court (and save some costs) or maybe win. The downside to defamation of character is it's always a difficult case because a lot of it is he said she said and you have to prove that the information given is false. For it to be slander/libel it has to be spreading around a falsity about a person that the general public would not know better than to believe. However, it sounds like you have proof of what he did to make it slightly more than he said she said, and from my point of view, since he retracted the claims, it might help to prove it was false. I don't know how a court would view it or how good of documentation you have of his revised statement...

Need opinion or advice on custody issue...?

BTW, this is about friends of mine, not me!!!! Ok, so here it goes... A man and woman had a child together, who is now 14 months old. The father has always been in the childs life and the parents lived together up until recently (never married). He was the sole provider almost all of this time, and took care of the child too when at home. The mother is a school drop-out, holds a low-paying job now. The mother was unfaithful, and decided to take the child, and leave the father to go live with her new boyfriend (the day she broke up with the father). She took everything the child had at their residence, and moved. Since then, she hasnt allowed the father access to their child, even though they have a strong bond and he desperatly wants to see his child. She asks him for money because she cant afford anything to make her child live since she makes less than 200$ a week, doesnt have many hours, and always call in sick because she doesnt feel like working. The father wanted to have a split 50-50 custody with alternating weeks, so he could see his child. The mother is scared that he will "take away" her child, so she doesnt let him see the child at all and states that "if he has the right to see the child, it will be with a social worker present". She threatens that shell have sole legal and physical custody. She cant take care of the childs basic needs, and seems to think shell have a huge child support amount (more likely to be around 250$ per month!). The father is willing to help out, but he has to take care of all the bills she left, plus buy again some of the things HE had already bought for the child that his ex took with him. If he had sole custody, he could cover all the childs needs, and even in split 50-50. He has a great support system where they live, yet she doesnt. She introduced her daughter to her "new daddy" BEFORE she even broke up with the father. With all this in mind, does it seem like the mother has the childs best interests at heart, or her own? She knows she cant afford to raise the child alone. She knows the father wants 50-50, yet she wont have it because she says alternating weeks for a 14 months old "has never been done", it wouldnt be done before the child is at least 6. Also, the mother stated that she might move back to her parents house, the house where she was sexually abused when she was a kid by her uncle, and the house where he father sexually abused her cousin. Does it seem like the father should get what he asks, 50-50, or even sole custody? Any advice? I just went through a custody issue, so I can help the father see things better from my point of view, but still... He only wants whats best for his child, and has always been there to take care of her, and now she doesnt allow him to see his child! And yes, the obvious "get a lawyer", he already has and is seeing the lawyer next week, but custody matters takes months to go to court here so...
Answer: The mother sounds like a loser and the father should 100 % be able to get 50/50 custody. I don't know about full custody and the child support will be based on her income as well as the living expenses for the child. She better get her a$$ up and get a real job to take care of her daughter. She is selfish, she knows she can't take care of the child but she wants the child to hurt the ex because she knows she messed up. Tell him I said good luck in court...

Is this enough school clothes?

I gave away most of my clothes because I had a growth spurt and when from being 55 to 58. So, from a size 3 with a normal length to a size 5 long. I bought 4 new pairs of jeans but one of them doesnt fit very well so really its just 3. And I have a few other pairs that fit well too. And I bought about 6 new tops. My parents gave me $700 to spend Ive already spent $200. So I still have about $300 left. I still need to buy a new winter coat and some shoes....but $150 of that $300 is for school supplies and makeup. I dont feel like I have enough clothing for school...I could tap into my own savings and buy more stuff with it but I was saving up for something I wanted. Do you think I have enough clothes? And I understand the thing about kids being less fortunate than me, but Im not in their situation, this is my lifestyle and not theirs in my lifestyle Im not very poor. So dont be mean about this...and by the way, all of those clothes that didnt fit, I donated. And my family donates all of the time because my stepmom is a social worker. x( I did shop at Forever 21...and I got my jeans from Hollister but they were on sale for like $15 so for two pairs it was only $30. And I bought some flat boots from Forever 21 and 2 necklaces and some bangles and some fashion skinny jeans that I cant wear everyday...and it was all like $200 there. The jacket Im looking at is only $60 on sale from Delias and the shoes are $40 Vans. I need the coat because I walk to school and it snows A LOT here.
Answer: You may want to get a few more shirts and maybe some shorts or skirts, leggings, and dresses. Forever 21 has these cute cheap things, too. BTW: I think it's really nice that your donating your clothes and just because you aren't poor doesn't mean your mean... Hope I helped!
